It is clear to me, at least, the the judge and the sheriff should be removed from office by Gov. deSantis, and Constitution-respecting appointees be put in their place.

Exactly. If you don't do your job and ignore the law, you shouldn't hold office.

Their violation of the constitution require time in prison.

TOO MUCH GOVERNMENT !!!!!!

DeSantis needs to fix this as a demonstration of his commitment to the Second Amendment and the universal, God-given right to self-defense.

Lee Williams's avatar

Definitely. At least two elected officials are ignoring the law.

Why has this not been taken to the Attorney Generals office for the State, all of these infractions.

More work to do on these kinds of situations.

Wow, and here I thought Florida was a free state...

Great writing, Lee. Keep up the good work.

Thanks, Clarence. We have to fight every day just to retain what we've got.

When most people vote down ballot, they don’t do much research. People should keep files on these types of stories to make ballot decisions easier and prevent stuff like this.

Judge Mcfee was appointed by DeSantis for a 6 year term which ends winter ‘25/‘26. Will you remember this then or let it slide?

Take care at the booth weed these people out early before they get appointments.

Great point! Thanks.

If he can appoint then he can fire. Cannot wait six years.

DeSantis needs to focus on the job he was elected to do and give up on the presidential delusion.

Sadly, divorcing her husband would be a go around, though very wrong on other levels.

At this point, even if she were to divorce her husband, getting those guns returned will be a struggle. Once gun-grabbers have knowingly violated someone's rights and taken away their guns, they are usually less than willing to acknowledge and undo their "mistake" because in their minds, what they've done is a net positive for society. Sadly, most victims of this are unwilling or unable to fight back.

The Constitution is clear on Bills of Attainder, and corruption by blood. Aside from other Constitutional infringements under the 2A this judge is violating the 4th, 5th, and 6th Amendments. The weapon used in the crime is evidence and may be seized and destroyed; but firearms NOT USED IN THE CRIME, should be returned to the family and retained or disposed of by the family. Sheriff also guilty of the same, especially as regards the arms of the wife and son.

Arrest and charge all the actors from the Sheriff up.

Enough of this totalitarian crap. This judge is exceeding his lawful authority and illegally coerced the wife and son to surrender their due process rights. The governor should also pardon the father and expunge the felony conviction.
