I don't own one but the YouTube videos I've watched demonstrating the effectiveness of the Byrna have pretty much convinced me that while it won't kill you it may very well make you wish it had as you suffer through the fog of pepper spray unleashed by one or more fractured pellets.
The main potential danger I see to the owner is bringing a super-realistic black Byrna to a real gunfight. And even if yours is red, tan or yellow, someone threatening you may pull a real gun and shoot you dead.
An air gun of those dimensions may be a less-lethal gun, but it's not a gun any reasonable person would want to use for protection in a self-defense event against an adversary with a lethal weapon. It may be handy for law enforcement being sent to a crowd control event in the past.
But current events show that the adversaries the Biden admin has allowed to cross our borders are more likely to have fully automatic weapons supplied by our own government than the crowds of only 3 or 4 years ago.
So, the gun controlling fanatics have rationalized themselves out of using even a crowd control event for paid professionals as a possible use-case for a less-lethal weapon like a large bore air pistol.
The best use might be as a less lethal alternative to a Tazer for law enforcement or private security, as long as it's carried support-side and in a bright enough color to maybe not be mistaken for a traditional firearm.
It's time to send a message to assholes like bloomer-boy and his ilk: we want your sorry
asses to be just as venerable as ours. Therefore, we are going to get laws that no one can
surround themselves with bodyguards (armed or unarmed). This would also include those
provided by the government. That means they will have to protect THEMSELVES the same
way we peons are allowed to protect ourselves. If that were to happen, gun manufactures
better be prepared to ramp-up production.
