This is a good example of what happens when there is widespread lack of accountability.
The planners of this event should have notes in their personnel history file within the department that indicates the foolishness that was attempted and accurate notes of the results. Their supervisors should have the same entries, and on up the line.
While this one incident might not be justification for firing their butts, it SHOULD be a trigger for demotion and remedial training for all involved.
This 'event' was about on par with an elementary school bake sale, only less productive - if that's even possible.
The Miami PD SHOULD be ashamed of something like his, but that shame would normally come from widespread coverage by the media. The "mainstream" media, but it's very unlikely that will happen. Our fourth estate is reneging on their responsibilities and should be held to account for it.
But I'd refer you now back to my introductory sentence.
I was just thinking about the money involved. Somebody had to set aside some amount expected to be used for the project. If there isn't careful auditing, that money might be spent on other 'unexpected' expenses for the administration of the event. ( donuts? just being funny ;-) BUT, someone DOES need to keep track of the cash.
Never,Never Never tell a democrat what the law is and what he can or cannot do legally. They are not bound by the restrictions of law.
Today I learned MPD are Democrats.
The MPD ought to go on the road with its magic act ~ or, uh, to jail for fraud.
As reported before, this scam DID NOT involve the Nationally recognized Miami-Dade County police department.
Do you think MPD honestly believes they'll get away with this?
Who knows. They have done some pretty screwy things in the past.
Gun control advocates usually get broad leeway to break the law. Those laws weren't meant to bind them, just us.

I agree with you.
I am in the Miami Area. Nothing about this "joke" was mentioned by the media.

Looks like some people just made some fake homemade guns and turned them in to get more taxpayer's money for free.
