Almost a decade ago, the State School Board in Oregon allowed local school boards to decide whether their staff could be armed. Many, mostly rural, have done so. More should, IMO.

Check with your local school board.

What an inspiring story. Notice that the school has not - to my knowledge - been covered by our left leaning media especially for anything negative such as student access to weapons, injuries or accidental discharges in the class room. There is nothing to see here other than protected children. Bravo!!

Thanks, Bill. This one nearly wrote itself.

Great article Lee, very informative. A school where the staff are all licensed conceal carriers certainly deters the criminal element of society thereby causing them to choose another institution, which is one important factor which the anti-second amendment proponents never mention because to do so, destroys their entire argument.

.

After reading through their website, I was impressed. But I could not help wondering what the firearms policy is for staff. To conceal carry on campus they must by law have a conceal carry license. But my question is, is there any general training requirements and or any campus focused training or requirements?

.

Would love to see a follow-up article addressing these concerns. All the law abiding conceal carriers I've had experience with, which is extensive, about half of them have no idea how they would perform under a deadly threat scenario---not saying they would perform poorly, but reality dictates that even L.E. personnel and other professionals who carry the gun daily on the job, have never been put to the test and therefore are not sure how they'd perform.

.

Regardless, I stand by the right of all law-abiding Floridians to carry a firearm concealed no matter what their level of train is. But there's nothing wrong with setting the training bar high, in this regard. Knowing the potential failure rate of my staff would be paramount. However, the odds of an aspiring school shooter to select this school would be extremely low if not zero---but I've learned to never believe someone could not be so dumb as to not check to see if the campus personnel are armed before they select a Christian School. And God forbid, select the school because it has armed personnel who believe God is on their side. Madness is rampant out there today.

If it's private property no license should be required... while I agree with you as to the training and standards concerns, both are easily addressed.

If you want to follow THE EXPERT on how to stop school shootings do a search for Ed Monk... He's the man with the plan. The earlier we shoot the MF'er the more lives are saved... not pretty, not PC, but it is the answer. @ed monk

I would much rather read a story where a teacher or school official dropped an active shooter at the door before they even made it to the classrooms.
