Smart guns don’t kill stupid people, stupid people kill stupid people, stupid.

"Keane is correct, of course. Besides, whether or not a firearm has a magazine disconnect, no one would have been harmed had the accidental shooters assumed that every gun was loaded and kept the muzzle pointed in a safe direction."

The best quote in this article!

BTW, thanks for all you do to keep us informed.

YW. Thanks for sending them by email. I'm 75 y/o and have been shooting since my 13 y/o boyfriend taught 13 y/o me the firearm safety rules and how to shoot.

I still shoot, but no longer hunt. I am still very much concerned with 2A issues as well as the political and moral course of this country.

The mainstream media and the democrats go hand in hand they’re nothing but a communist cult perpetrating propaganda on a daily basis. They can’t let go of their hate of freedom and the constitutional facts of life and liberty. 🗽 They can’t see that the American people have spoken with an overwhelming landslide. These fools are blind. The democrat party will barely be remembered in the dust bin of history.

4 Rules are the most important safety device ever devised.

I have exactly one pistol with a magazine disconnect. It’s also the only one with an external safety. Don’t like either feature one bit.

I agree. They were a solution to a problem that never really existed.

Good article. I’ve been wanting to remove the mag disconnect on my S&W 457. I only have one mag, single stack 7 rounds, and if I lose that in rain/snow/dark, it’d be nice to at least be able to manually load one round if necessary.

Thank you for the reminder about this…

If all the anti-gun organizations spent their millions of dollars on firearm safety instead if lies, there would be many less accidental shootings. Gun safety devices can and do malfunction and should not be relied on. They are not a substitution for education. Following just two rules would ensure far less accidental injuries and death-- Always act as if a gun is loaded and Never point a gun at somebody (or something) that you don't want to destroy. The continuing use of false facts and data about gun ownership or usage causes distrust of organizations and media.

IIRC, when the Browning Hi-Power design was being finalized as a pistol for the French Army, that it was the French that required a magazine disconnector, not necessarily the manufacturer or designer. None of the current reproduction non-Browning Hi-Power pistols, SA-35, Girsan, have the magazine disconnector.

The only pistols we have that have a magazine disconnector in it is a Star Modelo Super A, and Star BKM. The Star Model AS I have the magazine disconnector is missing and the BKM manual states on how to remove it.

With that said. Although I haven't read the NBC (so-called) report, they seem to have missed a valid point, and that is if the pistol does have a magazine disconnector in it a magazine needs to be inserted to make the pistol safe by lowering the hammer.

Whenever I see a report by NBC the first thing that comes to mind is this quote by David Codrea, "Maybe they should stick to blowing up GM trucks."

I had a S&W M&P 9mm compact that had this mag safety feature. It made "showing clear" after shooting scenarios at the range more complicated.
