Yeah, I am very grateful that Ian went South, but equally mindful: there but for the grace of God go I. I broke my foot right after oral surgery about a week before Ian became a hurricane. We had a little tree damage, lost a large clay flower pot, and couple other very...very...minor things. But I can't run down there myself and do anything other than get in the way with this foot. So we have done some comms and coordinating, checking on people we know, and made a couple of donations where we KNOW they will be used properly. It's ugly. We were all on the verge of bugging out for inland GA when Ian took that right turn. I had begun loading the SUV and stowed my pickup truck on the highest ground possible. I've ridden out hurricanes before, but not a huge Cat 4-5 like Ian; and definitely not with a 4 yr old daughter and a broken foot. No sir! Glad you and yours are okay.
Glad to hear you're OK, Lee. We dodged a major bullet: two fence sections down, a couple holes in the lanai and a shitload of small debris. Meanwhile, only a few miles away there were sharks swimming in the streets, Fort Myers Beach and Sanibel ceased to exist, and mobile home parks blew away. Of all my Florida friends, everyone made it out with varying degrees of damage - but no injuries or destruction.
At one point the path had Ian making land fall between Crystal River and Cedar Key and Dunnellon where we live is pretty much smack in the middle. Bags where backed and survival gear was checked/organized and ready including all our handguns, rifles and shotguns
I live by a simple moto and that's God, Family, Food and Shelter. Everything else after that is a blessing.
Never give up your rights and always fight.
Prayers go out to everyone affected by that monster hurricane.
I am in Naples and wouldnt give up my AR for anything politicians can promise. Amazing to see everyone come together to help each other.
Very glad to see you're okay, brother.
Prayers 🙏

Likewise, Doc. Glad you made it as well.

I am thankful and humbled.
