If this kind of mayhem comes to my town, I want to hold a sign out front of a burning building that reads, "You voted for this."

Excellent article! What's sad is that in the areas of unrest, the rioters get babied, and heroes like Kyle Rittenhouse get vilified. It's bad enough that the poor kid's life has been scarred by what happened, but he also has the burden of lawsuits, etc.

The passage of Florida's "Anti-Riot" law is a step in the direction of protecting the people that may need to defend themselves. I have to laugh when those against it say it will "restrict First Amendment rights" because people won't want to show up at a protest because it may turn violent. Huh? People can't protest until they're given a guarantee it's ok to get violent?

As a matter of perspective: I'm a recovering Liberal. In my younger days I attended many protests and peace marches. There was *never* violence. As a matter of fact, all protestors were told by the organizers that the most severe action we should do is "civil disobedience" by way of sitting down and letting the cops drag us off. How times have changed!

One last note: ammo prices have come down a bit. I've been pretty lucky to score ammo for "only" double the price I was paying a year ago. I imaging value will go up again when it becomes currency (I'll trade you two 9mm and one 45 ACP for a cup of coffee, burger and fries).

The other team is coming unglued about our anti-riot law. It's almost comical. Do they expect nothing will happen if they assault cops and burn down someone's business? Gotta wonder what color the sky is on their home planet.

The sky is definitely brown. Their home planet is Uranus

Great perspective and history lesson. More people should be reading and knowing this.

The saying "Those that dont know history are bound to repeat it" I think could come true.

I believe that calling 'the employment of others' to provide for 'defense of self' is being mislabeled. It seems most often to be called 'vigilantism', but looking at the definition - is it really that?

When people pay others to guard their stores, isn't that more like unlicensed security guards instead of vigilantism?

Of course, that's likely the first step toward actual vigilantism. But I think the difference should be recognized as separate elements in the decay of our society.

The need for private security (self defense) is recognized before the desire to restore and maintain justice after the 'government' has failed in it's primary responsibilities.

Hi Lee,

Well written.

I am teaching a work colleague and his wife to shoot this weekend. Taking them through the NRA presentation on Friday night and then to the range on Saturday. My colleague, a former soldier has been working on his wife for years. She finally agreed to learn to shoot with the state of the world today. I have taught 1/2 dozen other work colleagues over the last couple of years, as well as guided them through the legal purchase of personal firearms and CCW licenses. The interest in self-defense is really growing among regular people. My students are highly intelligent engineers and their families.

I don't care about government police either. My deplorable family and I, together with our church family, are daily becoming more prepared to deal with what comes may. Those of you reading this, best get your night vision, body armor, comms, 1st aid kits, training and other necessities organized. The commies stole our election fair and square and they are coming for us soon. I believe the entire country is going to go sideways and then get really loud.

I hope you all had a Happy Patriot's Day. Never forget, it was on April 19, 1775 that the American Minute Men stopped the British Redcoats, ATF & FBI of the day, from implementing a flintlock assault weapons ban as part of Henry Clinton's common sense gun control. This happened in Lexington and Concord, Massachusetts.

Deplorably yours,

Lee, once again you are spot on! When the " stuff" hits the fan, a lot of these staunch defund the police types are going to be wringing their hands crying about where is the protection I need. My reply will be "suck it up, buttercup, this is what you asked for"

As always, the good sounding but absurd policies of the left will differentially impact the poor where people of color are over represented. That is why calls for defunding the police or putting Social Worker's in harms way in the place of cops are, at the most basic level, racist.
