That must be why that same pattern of rifle is in nearly every patrol cruiser nationwide, and present in hundreds of thousands in military armories. Useless. Perhaps they should interview someone who actually used it in self defense? I hear Mr. Rittenhouse might be available.

What an elitist snob. Your faux acting at the Jan6 committee was an embarrassment to peace officers. You signed on to a job that you knew was dangerous, so man up and quit your whining.
There are a lot of 'average citizens' who know their way around a firearm better than a lot of cops; I've seen it first hand.
What use the gun is has no bearing on the second amendment. I’m shocked that it’s rare to hear anyone bring that up. A simple glance through the FBI statistics would enable a 10 year old to tell anyone long guns are not a problem. And even if they were used to kill 10,000 people a year I’d like to see how many “masa shootings” are in gun free zones. I’d wager a good amount of money that your in more danger from a real mass shooting in a gun free zone. What’s that telling these idiots on the left?
Is it ironic the very weapon they claim is the deadly choice of mass shooters and white supremacists everywhere, is useless when deployed in self defense encounters?
The article illustrates the effect of selective data collection. According to these writers the AR platform is a formable weapon when used for EVIL and useless in the hands of the pure at heart. As always your article is very informative.
March 27, 2017 / Broken Arrow, OK (near Tulsa) - 3 males, 16-18 years, broke into a home at around noon while wearing black clothes, masks, and gloves. One suspect was armed with a knife and one was armed with brass knuckles. Two males in the home at the time – homeowner and his 23-yr-old son. Son shoots bad guys with AR-15. All bad guys died on scene. No good guys hurt. “Getaway" driver, 21-yr-old female, turned herself in to police station later and was charged with three counts of First-Degree Murder.
This is a “nice” neighborhood and “nice” house around NOON. (Look at the photos and videos.)
Consider this story when you hear, "I never thought this type of thing could happen here, especially in broad daylight."
1. Look at the headline: "Killing of 3 teens during burglary may test Oklahoma 'stand your ground' law". The first words are "Killing of 3 teens" - does that set the appropriate tone for the story? KILLING and TEENS – is THIS what the story is about? Or, is it that two innocent people survive an armed home invasion?
2. In the video: pay attention to how many times they make reference to "shot", "gun", "killed", “three teenagers, shot dead”, “frightening”, etc. before they ever mention the fact that the invaders were armed – about 50 seconds.
3. Then, at about the one-minute mark, the reporter, after stating that the son (Peters) is 23 years old, says, "...Peters opened fire with an AR-15 semi-automatic rifle, killing all three teenagers." That makes it sound like a "man" shot and killed three "kids" with an “extra scary” gun. Was that the intent?
4. Then, the feces really hits the fan about the 2:10 mark when Robin Roberts begins to speak. She says, "The teens, that apparently did not have a gun when they were shot...but this 'Make My Day' law...that doesn't even matter." Watch the disgust on her face, too. At least the "legal correspondent" at least did a pretty good job of representing the story.
5. The written article (and from Robin Roberts' mouth): "alleged" is used for the getaway driver several times, but NEVER for the home defender. Why is that? Is it because the son admitted to doing it? That is true - he did admit it. However, the getaway driver also admitted to her part, too. They even state that the three burglars, who were dressed in black, wearing masks, broke in a back window, and were armed with a knife and brass knuckles, "...allegedly forced their way in...". But nothing about "allegedly shot".
6. Then, are you ready for this? The omnipresent "assault rifle" term rears its ugly head. I know, big shocker, right?
7. How is this going to test the "Stand Your Ground Law", like the headline states? Is this just another way they get their "trigger" words into peoples' heads?
8. Compare the coverage between the local and national “news” organizations.

Those are "patrol rifles" and totally different ... or maybe not?
It depends whether or not they possess the shoulder thing that goes up.

Cops are average citizens - and civilians. This particular cop might be in the low end of the range, however.

Good point. Hammers, hands and feet kill far more people every year than ARs.

Example of AR-15 used in self-defense:

There's more, too, but you get the point.
