Agreed. Not a big step from prohibiting to confiscating.

This odious ordinance was not an "inadvertent mistake" until you, Lee, made an issue of it and THANK YOU for turning the light on it. You can always spot the cockroaches running for cover when the light comes on!

Thanks, Roger and thanks for reading.

This idiot’s walking around with a badge? This is a prime example of out of control cops.

Do you think that maybe that is THEIR objective?

How much is his fine? I'd like to know, because he should NOT get away scot free when breaking the law. Especially federal law. The 'emergency ordnance' was signed and effective. It was his own action. The people in his jurisdiction WERE deprived of their rights.

18 U.S. Code § 242 - Deprivation of rights under color of law

U.S. Code

Whoever, under color of any law, statute, ordinance, regulation, or custom, willfully subjects any person in any State, Territory, Commonwealth, Possession, or District to the deprivation of any rights, privileges, or immunities secured or protected by the Constitution or laws of the United States, or to different punishments, pains, or penalties, on account of such person being an alien, or by reason of his color, or race, than are prescribed for the punishment of citizens, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than one year, or both; and if bodily injury results from the acts committed in violation of this section or if such acts include the use, attempted use, or threatened use of a dangerous weapon, explosives, or fire, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than ten years, or both; and if death results from the acts committed in violation of this section or if such acts include kidnapping or an attempt to kidnap, aggravated sexual abuse, or an attempt to commit aggravated sexual abuse, or an attempt to kill, shall be fined under this title, or imprisoned for any term of years or for life, or both, or may be sentenced to death.

As long as the county doesn't cover it, that should do.

Thanks Lee

edit: I just noticed - that's the State amount, he should probably be charged with both and see which is going to provide a better lesson.

Not enough in my book! He needs to lose his job! The chief could have caused great harm to citizens by disarming them. Get rid of him! Portlanders or some other bastion of liberal stupidity would love to hire him.

Losing the job isn't good for the people he's supposed to serve. That might be overboard. The results need to be considered and evaluated against his previous conduct. Zero tolerance is too Left.

So you support incompetence? How can this chief be trusted if he has no idea how to interpret laws? Tolerance of incompetence is more like the way the Left works. They still haven’t fired anyone for incompetence in the secret service for the murder of Corey Comperatore and the shooting of President Trump and two other rally participants. And don’t forget about the incompetence of the secret service related to the shooter at Mar a Lago. No firings yet. All the SS needed to do was walk the parameter of the golf course.

I hope you didn't have to jump from a height to reach that erroneous conclusion. A lot of people haven't heard of things called 'remedial training' but it works really well, when applied properly.

If I'm reading this Ordinance correctly, or the implications of it, your brother, sister, neighbor, knocks on the door and asks, "Hey do you have a box of ammo I can borrow (pistol shotgun etc.) for a few days until we get reorganized?" would be in violation of these ordinance?

This is unacceptable!

I have been through my share of hurricanes, and the one thing I have noticed and that is when the lights go out some unscrupulous characters seem to emerge.

And that shouldn't be the people in charge of things.

I don't know whether that Police Chief is an anti-gunner or whether he is a control freak, but he is not smart enough to realize that gun owners embrace the Second Amendment. Gun owners, unlike other groups of people, stay vigilant when it comes to their rights. The more noise we make over this incident, the better. Being vigilant and vocal makes us less likely to become victims of government abuse of our rights. Remember-- silence is consent and rights relinquished to government are not often restored. Protect your rights, loudly and often. Always be prepared, ready and able to fight for your rights and against government tyranny.
