The main reason for constitutional carry adoption is to eliminate weapons possession restrictions and the probable cause arguments arising there from. Any REAL constitutional carry law would nullify the ERPO law. I don't think you will see FL's gun-grabbing GOP sign on for that in sufficient numbers to make it happen. And the Governor can just wash his hands and blame it on the legislature. Way too many statists from the NE and abroad living down here for FL to become a constitutional carry state.

Wow, I’m honestly surprised this watered down version is even being broached. The FL GOP hates the 2nd Amendment. I don’t think even this will pass cleanly, it will be further watered down or fail. And there won’t be consequences

I'm beginning to believe the claims of a 'uni-party'. The circumstances certainly seem to point to one.

Is the possibility of the FL legislature actually considering constitutional carry legit? Or is it another carrot followed by a big stick? It seems they're dragging this out from the cobwebs so they can stir up the Left's voting base with FUD (fear, uncertainty and doubt) just in time for the election. For a few months, the MSM has been declaring that the Dem party will have no trouble at all keeping their 'majority' and the base has been mollified into believing their voting wasn't even needed.

Now, with many of them realizing their 'polls' weren't even being answered by many of the GOP, even the Conservative Right portion of the GOP (which is hardly ever silent), the last minute fear mongering is probably designed to stir the Left from their couches and convince them to start acting as they were programmed.

Definition of INFRINGE (verb):

- break a law, rule, or agreement;

- reduce someone's legal rights or freedom;

- to act in such way as to limit or undermine something;

- encroach on.

"the right of the people" doesn't say "the right of the state" or "the right of the militia"

"to keep and bear Arms" doesn't say "to keep and bear Arms at home"

"shall not be infringed" doesn't say "shall not be infringed very much"

I get you, Mike. I've been covering our quest for constitutional carry for more than 10 years, and I've been disappointed every single legislative session. The GOP always has an excuse: "It's not the right time," or they didn't like the bill's sponsor. Rest assured; we will hold them all accountable if they screw it up once again. Personally, I've had it. We've got a governor who will sign the bill. If they can't get one to his desk, it's time to out them all -- scorched earth!

I can remember seeing on the news right after the CWL legislation was passed of some people being interviewed walking up and down Hollywood Blvd (FL) with their handgun strapped on "look at me I've got a gun" and within days open carry was banned in Florida. Now I've heard that there was some push by Janet Reno and others to get open carry banned, and that may be so, but I do remember what I saw on the news.

Sometimes we are our own problem.

There is a time and a place for everything and grocery shopping with your favorite piece in view is probably not the right time or place, depending upon where you live.

What I find annoying is that Georgia passed Constitutional Carry, and even Governor DeVine of Ohio signed Constitutional Carry, but here in The Sunshine State we at well maybe.

The NRA (which BTW is who as in Marion Hammer is why C C is being stalled imo) bragged about how Constitutional Carry was passed in GA and OH, but never once mentioned that in FL it is in a never-ending holding pattern.

When Florida passed the concealed carry legislation the MSM was hysterical about how FL was going to descend into a wild west scenario and that there'd be blood in the streets. That didn't happen then and will not happen now.

Florida where we probably have an "F-" rating from Gabby and Co. and we cannot even join our neighbor to the north with Constitutional Carry.

Lee, my brother. I cannot be on my phone where I am currently engaged during the day, but saw your missive this morning and wanted to write back. Man, there were some well deserved barbs in your writing, and I got a chuckle out of them. You were right on point as usual.

You most definitely have your eye on the target, and as I've said before, you're not just shouting at the clouds. We are watching, we are listening, we are slowly getting engaged with our representatives. You've helped a ton of Floridians know they're not alone in their struggle to exercise their fundamental God given and Constitutionally guaranteed rights freely.

As far as our state GOP hacks....they're all on notice here. This is probably my line in the sand. Attempt to water this issue down any further, and their opponent in the next primary garners my vote. The GOP seems intent on fielding the weakest team ever here in this state for reasons that are unknown to me. We are the envy of the nation in so many ways by being independent and strong willed as a state. Being concerned about yankee tourist feelings, if that is indeed their logic, is pretty far down my list of priorities, frankly.

Lee, it seems as though the yahoo censor twits didn't like this/your email, as I found it

in my spam folder. Join the club; they frequently censor/reject my comments.

I'm incensed that we are constantly needing laws to counter laws that our so-called

representatives and COURTS should have stopped or nullified before they ever went

into effect.

The "Gold Standard" would be repeal of FSS 790.053 (the prohibition of open carry) and FSS 790.01 (the prohibition of unlicensed concealed carry).

We do NOT need more law" to achieve so-called "Constitutional carry", we need less. Repeal the offensive laws which stand between Florida residents/visitors and our Constitutionally protected fundamental rights.

If the Legislature is dead set against open carry, then repeal FSS 790.01. *Poof!* 'Constitutional' concealed carry for everyone who may lawfully possess a firearm/concealed weapon. NOTE: convicted felons would still be prohibited from possessing firearms or concealed weapons. Juveniles would still be prohibited from possessing firearms unless engaged in limited activities like hunting or supervised marksmanship.

I sincerely hope the Legislature does not craft some complicated piece of additional legislation which will subject Floridians to the risk of unnecessary law enforcement contacts or arrest.

If there’s any mention of, “Force of Law,” for restrictive signage, then it’s a big resounding NO.

If political promises were real we would all be in great financial condition right now. But I don't know how long my retirement funds can sustain the market losses. Lee did you find it a strange coincident that the St Louis shooter used the Perfect Storm reference after the NRA had adopted the term in reference to the Biden administration, days before a major robo call from "The NRA pushing Vote GOP and stop the Perfect Storm.

Thank you so much for keeping us up to date on Florida legislation regarding our gun rights. Even the watered down version is better but you are correct that we need to strive for the Gold Standard. Too many times, politicians try to appease everyone in their districts so they can stay in office. They aren't going to appeal to everyone but they should be concentrating on laws that their voting block supports.
