I know of a situation where this sort of thing happened.
A friend of ours flies from Jacksonville, FL to Texas. I'm not sure what city, but when checking in for the return flight he was informed that he had a pistol in his computer bag. Shure enough it was his 380, and he had no idea it was there. He was arrested.
That's the bad news. The good news is that there was no magazine or bullets with the pistol, his son had put the gun in there, so no charges, and he had to get the gun transferred to a FL FFL.
If the pistol was found in Jacksonville, he might have been able to just go home or get someone to come get the gun.
But if he flew to some state like NY , NJ, CA he not only would have been arrested but more than likely prosecuted.
Gun free zones are soft targets as we have seen with our schools. These should not be legal and should be disbanded period.
