Based on the incredible response to a product review I wrote about The Discreet Concealment Guitar Rifle Case from Cedar Mill Fine Firearms, I decided to see what else the Longview, Washington-based family-owned firm had to offer.
Their Rifle and Pistol Cleaning Kit immediately caught my eye, and Cedar Mill Fine Firearms was kind enough to send me one for review.
The first thing I noticed is that the kit is similar in size and contents to the better-known Otis tactical kit, which retails for around $50,
Cedar Mill’s kit has an MSRP of $16.99.
That’s a savings of $33.
The Cedar Mill kit has all the contents I need to clean a weapon in the field: bronze and wool brushes, a flexible rod and T-handle, a brass adapter and slotted tips, 3”x3” patches, an empty 5oz bottle for the CLP of your choice and a multi-tool I’m still finding uses for.
It has all you will need to clean a firearm from .17 caliber to .308 (4.3mm to 7.8mm), with barrel lengths up to 34-inches.
The kit is light – very light – and compact. It fits easily into a pack, range bag or thigh pocket. I’ll be ordering more for all of my tactical gear bags.
I’ve cleaned two rifles using the Cedar Mill kit – a filthy AK and an AR – and two 9mm pistols. The cleaning gear works fine.
There is ample room in the pouch for additional items: I added two .45 caliber brushes, cue tips and a small toothbrush.
If you are looking for a good-quality tactical weapon cleaning kit at a fantastic price, this one is a no-brainer.
I ordered this kit Wednesday afternoon and I had it in hand Thursday morning!
Great little kit, as good as if not better than my Otis kit.
