Feinstein's 'assault weapons' ban is a monument to her anti-gun thick-headedness
Sen. Dianne Feinstein's bill is exactly what you'd expect from the country's perennial gun banner.
When Senator Dianne Feinstein was born, Franklin Delano Roosevelt was president, the country was celebrating the end of prohibition, and construction had just started on San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge.
The latest version of Feinstein’s “Assault Weapons” ban — which she originally wrote in 2017 — is about as relevant.
To be clear, this is a nonsensical bill, which would ordinarily be the subject of a lot of jokes, but with the Democrats in control of the House, White House and Senate, no one is laughing. And because President Biden campaigned specifically against “assault weapons,” Feinstein’s bill must be taken seriously, even though it faces an uphill battle in the Senate.
Here are some of the key provisions, taken straight from her press release:
Bans the sale, manufacture, transfer and importation of 205 military-style assault weapons by name. Owners may keep existing weapons.
Bans any assault weapon with the capacity to utilize a magazine that is not a fixed ammunition magazine and has one or more military characteristics including a pistol grip, a forward grip, a barrel shroud, a threaded barrel or a folding or telescoping stock. Owners may keep existing weapons.
Bans magazines and other ammunition feeding devices that hold more than 10 rounds of ammunition, which allow shooters to quickly fire many rounds without needing to reload. Owners may keep existing magazines.
Requires a background check on any future sale, trade or gifting of an assault weapon covered by the bill.
Requires that grandfathered assault weapons are stored using a secure gun storage or safety device like a trigger lock.
Prohibits the transfer of high-capacity ammunition magazines.
Note that the bill would grandfather existing weapons and magazines. But don’t be lulled into a false sense of security by this. This is pure anti-gun evil, and it is certainly by design.
The only way to know if an AR qualifies as pre-ban would be by registering it. And we all know what registration leads to — confiscation.
Feinstein is playing the long game. Her bill doesn’t call for confiscation yet, but that is certainly her goal. She has said as much during media interviews.
Think of her latest bill as a foot in the door. In her anti-gun mind, she envisions gun owners flocking en masse to register their rifles and magazines so they’re not covered by her ban.
She doesn't realize this would never happen.
There will be no registration rush. We’re not going to fall for that.
Dumbest of the dumb
This passage best exemplifies the idiocy of the authors.
“Assault weapons and high-capacity magazines are deadly and dangerous weapons of war that belong on battlefields—not our streets,” Feinstein’s press release states. “They have no purpose for self-defense or hunting, and no business being in our schools, churches and malls.”
No purpose for self-defense, really?
Someone should tell our law enforcement officers about this, ASAP.
There are ARs in nearly every police cruiser in the country — for good reason.
The AR is a fantastic choice for self defense.
It’s light and easy to handle. And with a standard-capacity magazine, for most self-defense scenarios, there is no reason to reload. Recoil is low, so follow up shots — crucial in any defensive situation — are easy. And most importantly, a quality AR is reliable as hell.
Hyper-partisan
As it stands now, Feinstein’s bill is co-sponsored by more than 35 Senators.
Every single one of them is a Democrat — every single one.
Not a single Republican has signed onto her legislation.
This, friends, says a lot.
Odds are slim, at least for now, that they’ll get the 60 Senators needed to pass the bill and send it to President Biden, who will sign it in a nanosecond.
But let’s make sure this remains the case.
Please contact your elected officials — regardless of their party affiliation — and tell them to reject Feinstein’s latest attempt to rob us of our God-given and constitutional rights.

I have to try and shut my mouth on this one....must exercise at least SOME restraint in public. These days, its a VERY difficult task.
My 32 round Luger snail drum mags will be banned. At $1500 a pop I am sure they play a significant role in gun violence in the inner city.
Vern (the Turncoat) should be contacted as well as every other legislator. Take nothing for granted.
