This is yet another example of how SCOTUS screwed up by allowing states to keep permit systems in place to rule over the constitution. Because the 2A can be subject to requiring a permit, so can ALL THE OTHER RIGHTS.
Many States have Constitutional Carry. I know relegating Powers to the States is frustrating, but that's how a Republic functions an an overall policy.
When the State violates the Constitution then the Federals need to intervene, but obviously the Ferals can also violate the Constitution, and States need to also have authority to resist.
John Adams quote about the Constitution being Functional only to a Moral People comes to mind.
New York and California both need to be overthrown. The only way I would move back to Northern California is a complete change of leadership to the red side.
Next target: NYS; the system of issuing licenses and acquisition amendments by the various Counties (with full consent of the NYSP) and delays/denials of ammunition purchases by NYSP needs very careful scrutiny by the USAG's office.
